Home Decor Ideas: Simple And Easy Ideas For Holiday Decorations

Jaime Moore had long admired a stately Greek Revival mansion on the main thoroughfare of Hingham town center. So when the new owners asked for help with the design, she was elated. Recently, she transformed a room that was a landing space for random children’s belongings into a cozy hangout, and then decorated it with classic touches for the holidays. “The previous owners used the space as a dining room even though there was an adjacent dining room,” says founder of James Studio Interiors. “Now it’s perfect for family game nights and cocktails with friends. “

1 An almost indestructible polypropylene carpet in vintage style was the starting point. “We took out the aqua tones for the accessories, including the Johanna Howard mohair throws,” says Moore.

2 “Sofas would have cluttered this long, narrow New England room,” says Moore. Instead, she gathered four comfy the couches covered in a soft, high-performance fabric around the existing leather ottoman.

3 Figge Floral Studio created the magnolia Garland for the fireplace. Moore wove loose eucalyptus leaves from Hingham Greenery. “Eucalyptus smells good and dries well,” she says.

4 Nutcracker from the owners collection, stand the sentry over the fireplace and dot the shelves. The client’s grandfather carved the wooden swan and ducks as Christmas gifts. “The personal touches really make it feel like the owner’s space,” says Moore.

5 the designer added pine cones and eucalyptus leaves to the boxwood flower wreaths of Trader Joe’s, with simple red arcs. “I hang them on clear Command hooks and get the drop off just by re-tying the ribbon,” she shares.

6 Moore painted the carpentry off-white paint for extra warmth. The navy blue grass canvas wallcovering on the back of the shelves showcases the items on display.
